LAX(mas) Snow
Even in sunny Los Angeles, snowflakes symbolize Christmas and winter. It snows here, what, once every 100 years? (And we’re likely to wait even longer in the future.)
Update: The day before I posted this, KCET ran an article (with a photo gallery) on the history of snow in Los Angeles. It turns out it used to snow roughly once a decade…until 1962. It hasn’t snowed on the plain since. It snows in the higher mountains just about every year, and the San Fernando Valley (higher than the coastal plain) got a snowstorm in 1989. But the LA basin? Nothing in the last 54 years. Los Angeles is about 5°F warmer than it was a century ago. Half of that can be accounted for by the urban heat island effect. The rest is atmospheric warming.

I Hope They Don’t Mean the Pizzas!
I do like their pizza and their movie quote habit, but this one might not have been the best choice for a place that serves food 😛

Usually they put movie quotes on the sign. This year they’ve taken to posting tributes to recently-passed celebrities. Usually in the form of relevant movie quotes. It’s been a year for that.

Targeting Pokémon
I went to Target this morning and found that someone had painted one of their signature red ball traffic barriers as a Pokéball. At first I figured it was a local thing, but I ended up having to make a second run, hit a different Target, and found that they’d done the same thing.
I don’t know if it’s regional or chain-wide, but it’s clearly more than a one-off!
