Lesser Plays
As a spinoff of the “lesser books” meme on Twitter (taking a classic book title and making it mundane, trivial, or otherwise lesser), someone started in on “lesser plays.”
I came up with a few:
- Less Miserable (admittedly this one’s a gimme)
- Spring Just-a-few-more-minutes-before-I-wake-up.
- The Importance of being Ernie.
- Eleven Mildly-Annoyed Guys
- The Prince and I
- The Rose Temporary Tattoo
Zing Zang Zoom
Every time I see this, I’m reminded of the dragon-like Marvel Comics monster (and Iron Man foe) Fin Fang Foom.
Of course, the really funny part is that this sign is advertising an event from last July…and it’s still there!
Spaceballs: The Beer
The latest seasonal beer at Oggi’s* is The Schwartz, a Belgian IPA. And just in case the “May the Schwartz Be With You” tagline wasn’t clear enough…well, check out the poster:

*Oggi’s (pronounced OH-jeez) is a chain of pizza & brewery restaurants in Southern California, mostly in San Diego and Orange County.

This could actually make an interesting movie. Okay, it would be about as long as Bambi Meets Godzilla, but still…

If the hat is that big, I’m not sure I want to see the cat who wears it!

Central City Comic Con
Stopped for coffee on the way to Anaheim Comic Con. Yes, actually, I am wearing a Flash T-shirt. Why do you ask?
Even better, the rest of the convention center was taken up by a coffee convention! (For the uninitiated: There’s a running gag in the current Flash relaunch about how much coffee people drink in Central City…especially Iris Allen.)
